Send email from your own address

Reply to customers by email from your own address, through SendGrid, Mailgun, Resend, Postmark, Brevo, Amazon SES, Gmail, Microsoft 365 or your own mail server.

When coview emails a customer your reply (with Send as email, or because they left before reading it), the email comes from coview's address by default: "Your shop via coview <[email protected]>". On Starter and up it can come from your own address instead, such as [email protected], through your email provider or your own mail server. Changing this needs the Workspace settings permission.

Sign-in codes and invitations always come from coview.

Set it up

  1. Open Settings › Email and pick Your own address.
  2. Pick your provider: SendGrid, Mailgun, Resend, Postmark, Brevo, Amazon SES, Gmail / Google Workspace or Microsoft 365. coview fills in the server. Pick Your own SMTP server to enter the host, port (465, 587, 2525 or 25) and encryption yourself.
  3. Paste what the provider gives you. The page says where to find it.
  4. Enter the From address and, if you like, a From name. Leave the name empty to use your workspace's name.
  5. Click Save, then Send test. The test goes to you, or to the address you type. It either arrives, or the page shows what your mail server answered.

Microsoft 365The mailbox and its passwordAuthenticated SMTP must be on for the mailbox

The From address must be on a domain your provider has verified, with its SPF and DKIM records published. If it isn't, the provider refuses the email, or it lands in spam.

coview keeps your password or key encrypted and uses it only to send your email. Use a key that can only send mail, so it can't do anything else if it ever leaks.

What changes

  • Your replies to customers come from your address and name. Customers' answers still come back into the conversation, as described in Answer chats in the inbox.
  • Emails sent through your own sender don't count toward your plan's emails each month, and they keep going after the month's emails are used up. Your provider's own limits apply.
  • If your mail server refuses an email (a wrong key, an unverified address, a provider limit), coview sends that email from its own address instead, so the customer still gets it. Settings › Email then shows what your server answered and when. Fix it, save, and send a test.

Go back to coview's address

Pick coview's address and save. Your sender's settings stay saved for later. If your plan changes to Free, your own sender pauses (Free doesn't email customers); it starts again when you upgrade.
