Find the sessions you need

Filter recordings by page, length, device, country, source, campaign and dates, or by rage clicks, errors and chats, and find one customer's sessions.

The Sessions page lists your recordings, newest first, and keeps the list up to date while it's open. Filters narrow it down to the visits worth watching. Click any row to play it.

The list

Each row shows the visitor, when the visit started, how long it lasted, the number of pages and clicks, the location, the device, whether the visitor chatted, and whether the recording is still going on. Rows also flag rage clicks and errors with a count, so the troubled visits stand out. Show more at the bottom loads older recordings.

More filters holds the rest. The button shows how many of them are set.

  • Browser: the browsers your recordings come from.
  • Traffic source: Direct, Search, Social, Referral, Email or Paid.
  • UTM campaign: the campaigns in your recordings' landing addresses.
  • From and To: a date range, in whole days of your time zone.

Filters combine: Mobile with Rage clicks and /checkout finds phone visitors who got stuck at checkout. Clear filters resets them all.

One customer's sessions

  1. Click Customer at the start of the filter bar.
  2. Type at least two letters of their name or email, and pick them.

The list then shows only that person's recordings, with their name in a pill; the × on it shows everyone again. You get to the same list from Their sessions on a recording, and by clicking a visitor in Live now.

Where the facts come from

  • Country comes from the visitor's IP address, or from their browser's time zone when the address gives no place. coview keeps the place, never the address itself.
  • Traffic source is worked out from the landing page and the referrer: paid campaign tags and ad click ids count as Paid; email campaigns as Email; search engines as Search; social networks as Social; no referrer, or your own site, as Direct; anything else as Referral.
  • Identified means coview has the visitor's email, phone or user id. See Identify signed-in users.

Recordings you won't find

  • Visits by bots and automated browsers, and by visitors who declined analytics.
  • Visitors outside your recording sample, pages you excluded from recording, and, with the matching settings on, anonymous visitors or visits without a chat.
  • Recordings past your retention period, and recordings someone deleted.

All of these are set in Settings › Privacy, which the Recording settings button on the Sessions page opens. See Privacy, masking and retention.
