Members and roles

Invite your team to coview, give each person a role, and see exactly what Owner, Admin, Supervisor, Agent and Viewer may do, or build your own role.

Everyone in your workspace has a role, and the role decides what they see and do. Permissions are checked by coview's server on every request; the console's menu only hides what a role can't use. The Team page has the tabs Members and Roles & permissions, plus Audit log for roles that may see it.

Invite people

  1. Open Team and click Invite people.
  2. Enter one or more email addresses, pressing Enter or a comma after each. Up to 20 at a time.
  3. Pick a Role and, if you like, add a message.
  4. Click Send invitation.

Each person gets an email with a link to join. Invitations expire after 7 days. Under Invitations, an open invitation has Copy link (to share it another way; the link works once, only for that address), Resend (emails the link again with 7 more days) and Revoke.

Pending invitations count toward your plan's seats. When the seats are taken, invitations are refused until you upgrade. See Plans and limits.

People can also join without an invitation: through a domain you verified, or through your single sign-on provider. See Single sign-on and SCIM.

Change a role or remove someone

On the Members tab, pick a new role from the member's Role menu. To remove someone, open the … menu on their row and choose Remove from workspace; they lose access right away.

  • Only an owner can make someone an owner.
  • Nobody can give someone more access than they have themselves.
  • The last owner can't be removed or given another role.

Managing members needs the Invite and remove members permission.

Custom roles

  1. Open Team › Roles & permissions and click New role.
  2. Name it, for example "Support lead", and pick a built-in role to start from.
  3. Click Create role. It appears as a new column in the table.
  4. Tick or untick its permissions, then click Save with the role's name.

Custom roles appear in the Role menus next to the built-in ones. The trash button in a custom role's column deletes it. Editing roles needs the Edit roles permission, and you can't give a role a permission you don't have yourself.
